JLAF/ ROWIP Wayfinding
One of the key findings of the Joint Rights of Way Improvement Plan Assessment was that good signing of routes would bring increased use of Public Rights of Way, particularly amongst new users. One of the key actions of the ROWIP is to review the signs that are used on and towards public rights of way in the area. In architecture and urban design, this study of directional and informational signing is known as 'Wayfinding'. This area of the JLAF website has been set up to assist in this study. At the JLAF meeting on the 4th July 2008 members were asked to submit examples of good and bad signs that they came across. These and others have been added to a gallery to prompt discussion so the JLAF can advise on the ROWIP Review of Signs being undertaken by the Councils. Please have a look at this website and note good and bad examples of signs, or elements of their use or design. Clicking on the link below will open the gallery. Each picture can be enlarged on the screen by clicking the thumbnail - doing this will also show an identifying number of the picture, for easy reference.
